One day during the pandemic I was thinking about my life as a 65 year old retiree. I really wasn’t ready to just sit down and not be engaged in customer relationships and of course cooking, baking and serving food. I started putting cake recipes together from our previous restaurants called Café Lemont, and Lemont’s Southern Cuisine. Both places I was the baker and wedding coordinator. When I reflect black to the baking that I did at Café LeMont’s, we had the monster cakes. People loved them. That’s when I had an idea to make the smaller version of the monster cake, since it was a very large portion. Since our early years of operating a restaurant/bakery we have become a health conscious society now. I looked for pan sizes that would be individual servings and smaller portions. Again, I had nothing but time during the pandemic so I baked, and I baked and baked. I gave away products and started to do tastings and next I did pop-ups to create my customer base again. People started to really love the small cake pans. So now I need to come up with a great little name for my idea and the new bakery I always wanted to have.

Chefs Lemont and Renita wanted to make a difference in kids lives. They wanted to give hope and education to young children. The program gives food safety knowledge as well as basic baking. This up coming year (2023) they are adding more weeks and basic kid friendly meals the children can prepare. They have uniforms, starter baking kits and a baking and cooking manual.  A hot lunch and a snack is served daily. Each class is a full week of learning, fun, hands on cooking and baking. All classes will receive a certificate at the Graduation of all the classes. They invited family and friends to a reception that the kids fix to show what the learn. They also get to take the cake that they made and decorated home to share with their families. The bakery will support the summer program as well as applying for grants and asking the community to sponsor a child.  Donation will be taken throughout the year through their non- profit Skirts ministry that supports families and children especially during the holiday season. The program is call Family Share. It has been in place for 3years. fundraisers are a part of the program to reach their goal each year to help with cost of the summer program. 2023 will be the first year that the program will run for the entire month of June. The goal is to serve up to 50 children in and around communities that are underserved. Thank you in advanced for your support of this amazing program. Making a difference one child at a time.
